We took a little trip
A weekend jaunt to Montana. Never thought I would do that in a weekend, but we packed up the 4 kids, dropped off the dogs, and headed east.
Eastern Washington - possibly our home-to-be - is brown. We passed a sign that said "Welcome to the Evergreen State" and I laughed.
The next day we made it to and across Idaho. It took one hour to cross. Now I know the lower half takes longer, but the state I come from ... hours and hours to cross either way.
And finally into Montana. The leaves were changing colors. We were up in elevation, so there was rain, but the colors were beautiful! The highways there now have speed limit signs posted - but 75 miles downhill on a mountain, s-curve was enough to put finger dents in my door handle.
So on Friday we got to visit with G's 103 year old grandmother. She is still mentally very sharp, although can't see or hear quite as well as she used to! She is an amazing lady!
The kids really enjoyed meeting her - and we decided to take her out to lunch. Uncle S. drove Grandma while we followed behind. Now, in Montana, there are casinos on every corner; so when they turned into a driveway, we thought "Oh - dinner at a casino... " Nope ... not the casino, passed that by; Next to it was Hooters. Grandma!!! Oh, phew - passed that by, and on into IHOP. (One of my favorites - stuffed French toast, mmmmm) So, we spent some time visiting on into the night and then crammed the 6 of us into this nice, *little*, hotel room.
The next day made up for it - we were able to get the king suite at Best Western. It just happened to be the last room available. And they had free cookies available that night for guests. Any hotel that has free cookies that I can eat in a king sized bed, is good in my book!
So back to Idaho/Washington we went. We toured some neighborhoods. Found some beautiful houses that maybe, maybe, we could live in.
And Sunday morning the wind said hello. Not a gentle hello, but a full out shout! The air looked foggy, but no it was just dust. I'm hoping I can get used to this. The tumbleweeds went sailing across the highway, and the kids said, "Oh, cool!" Yeah, we don't let them out much.
The church we visited was nice enough. Although is was huge. You could've fit 2 or 3 of my houses into it. A lot of people! I missed my friends, my church, my pastor. I realized that it was one tiny little step on the trail of leaving to another home.
What??? I am out of the loop here but I am sad to hear that you may be moving. ... keep us posted and I will start praying for your life changes.
ReplyDeleteVery surprised to hear that you might be moving--and sad! Jamie and I both grew up in Yakima (still the brown side of the state) and have friends over in the Spokane area if you need some connections.
