Goodbyes and Hellos

Image
( The company saga continued ...) We said goodbye our visitors Monday morning. But the day before that there was a rousing game (or two) of "spoons" in the backyard; along with some important appliance repair in the kitchen. My engineer brother-in-law (the one responsible for the river diversion at the beach) joined in with my husband to see if they could fix our broken dishwasher. A water pump problem perhaps? Whatever it is (and yes, I know G explained it to me... but those things don't stick in my mind long-term) it is expensive to fix. So for now my dishwasher machine sits in our garage. And my dishwashers - 4 sets of precious hands - get to learn how it was in the 'olden days'. Hands on homeschooling, that's what it's all about. ;)  Thanks for visiting Montana minions (and parents)  And then we said HELLO to school. Ok, maybe they didn't. but I did! It is lovely to be back on schedule. Although I didn't get done all tha...

This room used to be orange. I was finally able to upload the pics I have of my 'new' guest room. I love having a 'guest' room now. It will soon be overtaken by an almost 12-year-old girl but the colors are going to stay. While out shopping last week for school stuff, I came across these pillows and bing - the light bulb moment. They live way off in the far land of Montana, so a visit with them is not a frequent occurrence, And when we do get together, oh the fun we have! We had a day in the park, and then the next day we took off for the beach. Being landlocked, I think they had a fun time. Three times for me at the beach in one month - happy happy dance. Of course, it wasn't ju...

Growing Up - guest blogger

Image
We have a guest blogger with us today.  My 11 year old daughter is at the age - not wanting to play so much with the younger set, and not sure what else to do - so I let her try her hand at this: Guess who got a new bed today. Little K couldn't wait to try it out. She helped(?) take her old crib apart and put together her new one. Everyone felt the urge to sit on it.   "Okay, Mom, you can turn off the lights now, I'm ready for my nap!" (I'm back thanks to my girl for filling in) Yes, Little K is no longer in the crib. I was SO tired of getting her out of bed in the middle of the night to snuggle with me in my bed. Yes, we have fallen into that habit. Now it's time to change.  Because she shares a room with her older brother, I couldn't just let her cry it out. Poor Brother needs sleep! since he has to get up early and go to school away from home.  So I usually just tuck her in next to me and try to sleep. It's getting old, re...
