Hair

We have a lot of hair around this house. 5 females. Long hair. It gets around. Usually I have to deal with it in the vacuum cleaner or shower drains. Today however, was a new adventure in Hair. As I prepared the pancakes, I realized that the child who went into the bathroom was in there for a long time, being very quiet. Thinking nothing of it, I kept on preparing the grub for the minions. A few minutes later the 9 yr old walked out and presented me with this:    A comb. Stuck. In. Her. Hair.  I shook my head, abandoned the pancake batter, and got to work. As I tugged and turned, I tried to get into her mind (proceed with caution when doing this!)  "What were you doing?" I asked. "Trying to curl my hair around the comb." Aha. Of course. She did it because she was curious. And that I totally get. She is so like me, in more than just looks.  After a very long time, I gave up. Yep. Totally gave up, and said, "You try for awhile." I don...

Hair

There is a lot of hair around our house. 5 females with long hair adds up to: many strands floating or found in various places; plus a lot of emptying of the vacuum canister. My two older girls have each cut their beautiful long hair once for Locks of Love. And this month it was the third one's turn. She has been asking since March, I think, to get her hair cut. I kept putting her off, until I had to tell her about the wedding. I had grand dreams of her long blonde hair in beautiful long curls. But since I have never really curled her hair much, I didn't realize that curls do.not.stay. in her hair. So she had long wavy hair for the wedding. And she still looked cute. The week we got back she started really hounding me about getting her hair cut. So I made it happen. Here we have the before photos:  so long and wavy And then after we visited the hair salon: Isn't she cute!? I said it made her look like Kit from the American Girls series. She really likes it ...

In my Corner

Image
In my little corner of the world, many things catch my eye throughout the day. My little girl's curls. I just love them. My dog who sleeps curled up with a hose  My son showing off his muscles  by carrying around his sisters  And finally - an advance in the remodeling department! ( disclaimer: there have been many advances of which I have not blogged about, mainly because they were the type that don't photograph well, like texture. You can't really see it in a photo.) Step 956 of 1 million: paint in the girls' room The two girls who will occupy this room first picked out the colors, and prepped the area, then we got down to work. I let them do most of the painting, with a little help to reach the high places. Tomorrow will be the second coat, and then we'll paint the other walls white. And that leads us up to the finishing steps - flooring! Curtains! Trim! Move in! (not all in that order)

Random

Random thoughts from our weekend. We're so in love, even our toothbrushes cuddle. (Does anyone else think like this? Maybe it's just me...) We're going for the Sally Brown look with our youngest. Or we were that day.
