What a great Monday!

For awhile now I have been following a certain blogger - Mavis. I try to read her blog regularly, not just for the great couponing hints, but she has the kind of humor I can relate to. ((Although I think she thought I was kidding when I suggested her next giveaway should be her coming to clean someone's kitchen. I thought it was a brilliant idea (wink wink))) So Mavis writes about how. she was able to feed her family of 4 on only one hundred dollars a month last year (hence the name of her blog ). Now there is probably no way I could feed the 7 of us on that amount; but reading her blog has made me more aware of my spending and grocery buying habits. AND THEN - cue the drum roll -  This morning I opened a wonderful email I had received from her. It made me hoop and holler and do a happy dance! The kids came running to see what was going on. Can you see why I was SO excited? See that word WINNER? Woohoo!! I did the happy damce because: A. I never win anything. Or so it see...

Spotlight 4

It's time again for a spotlight of the blogs I read. Those ones listed over there under "On My Break". In the past I've told you about Nate's Nonsense , Knit Together , and Bluu Hipp o. So today I'll feature 3 of the places I like to go -- Uniquely Normal , Pie in the Sky , and I Can do All Things (now renamed The Holy or the Broken). First, Uniquely Normal . It's a blog by a relative of mine. She actually chose to come into the family by marrying my cousin. (I can kind of understand that .... I still shake my head at my sisters-in-law though. As wonderful as I think they are, I can't imagine what they see in my brothers. Really don't know ... but that's beside the point.) Anyway,  this cousin-in-law of mine intrigues me with her thoughts and viewpoint on life. I don't always agree, but I enjoy reading about her day to day life, and since they are basically newlyweds (1.5 yrs qualifies as new to me!) it is interesting for me to read about...

This morning

This morning I looked at my children and realized we had a lot going on right then. There was school work being scratched out on the papers at the dining table. The baby was pulling everything she could grab out of the cupboard. I was  checking every few minutes to see what Baby was chewing on; and then I added the next ingredients to the bowl for making graham crackers again. So I grabbed my camera. Of course. Just one more thing. No I am not A.D.D. At least I don't think so. And I snapped pictures of the LIFE happening in our house. And another light bulb went off in my head. I tell ya, I'm full of ideas for projects! If anyone is bored I've got a bunch of ideas for you to try! I decided to start up another blog. Yep, you're the first to know. My other blog - titled At 10:38 am -is accessible by just clicking here or on the title I just mentioned. I'll still be posting here; but now you have another site to waste time on have fun viewing. There is no hidden...

Inspiration. Workday trials. Real life issues. Crafts. These are just a few of the things I read about on Bluu Hippo - one of the logs I read daily. What do I love about this blog? Well, the author, JLI (who in my mind is Jil, but that's not even her name!) inspires me with her insights from her Bible reading or her pastor's sermons. She writes about her work life, which I live vicariously through, because in a weird way I miss working with other adults outside of my own house. She and her husband are part of a ministry to the homeless in their city, and it has challenged me to look differently at the homeless I see on our the bridge and down in the park. JLI/ Jil is also a knitter/crocheter and photographer, so I enjoy seeing her creations ... since I have none of my own at this point in time. If you have a moment, click on over to her blog and wander around.

Spotlight 2

Let's look at another one of the blogs on My List.  The writer of this blog is a someone I went to school with. Knit Together (Designs) is just one of her blogs! It covers her knitting projects and patterns, and I am in awe of what she does with her hooks and yarn. Maybe one of these days when I learn pick a hobby and learn to knit I will be using some of her patterns. I just love the baby hats she has made! Her other blog, which I just link to from KTD is called Knit Together. Similar I know but the meaning of the title is so cool. This blog is about her family, and on it she quotes Colossians 2:2 " That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love..." I just love this. My friend is a homeschooling mom of (gulp) 7! She is the first - and only - person I know from my past who homeschools a passel of kids like I do.  I hope you take a peek into her world.

If you look way over to the right side of this blog page you might notice a list of blogs handily referred to as My Blog List . Sometimes I check every single one in a day, sometimes I jump around and pick a few that I regularly read. Today I decided to spotlight one of these blogs, to give you a chance to try something new, and to give the blogger a little exposure, whether they like it or not! So I'll go right to the very middle and tell you about ..... " Nate's Nonsense ". I came across this blog by reading another blog on my list, Old Picture of the Day. The jest and enmity between the two writers struck my funny bone. I found the historic information included in some of the blogs to be fascinating. And then the ability the blogger has to identify old pictures is just amazing. You see, every Saturday Old Picture blog has a Mystery Person contest, and the writer of Nate's Nonsense seems to know the right answer. Every. Week. How?! I'm mystified. So, now N...
